Fresh 48 Session Guide

Newborn Photography

Congratulations on your newest arrival! Fresh 48 sessions are designed to capture the raw, beautiful moments of your baby's first hours of life. These sessions focus on genuine connection and the details you'll never want to forget—the tiny fingers, hospital bracelets, first snuggles, and the overwhelming joy of welcoming your little one.

Please contact me as soon as you are in labor and when baby arrives so we can plan the best time for your session.

Before your session

🤍 Fresh 48 sessions take place within the first 24–48 hours after birth, either at the hospital, birth center, or in your home.

🤍 Please notify me as soon as possible when you are in labor and then after baby arrives so we can finalize a session time. I need to know when you go into labor so I can plan accordingly.

🤍 These sessions are relaxed and lifestyle-focused. No posing is required, and we follow baby's natural rhythm.

What to Bring

🤍 Any special swaddles, name signs, announcement items, or heirlooms you'd like photographed.

🤍 Pacifiers, bottles, or feeding supplies if needed.

🤍 A simple outfit for baby if you'd like images both swaddled and dressed.

🤍 Wear something comfortable that makes you feel confident and beautiful.

🤍 Neutral colors and soft tones photograph beautifully.

🤍 Don't stress about looking "perfect." These images are about preserving this season exactly as it is.

For Parents & Siblings

🤍 Neutral colors and simple patterns photograph best.

🤍 Hospital gowns, robes, and cozy pajamas are completely welcome. Fresh 48 sessions are about documenting this season exactly as it is.

🤍 Avoid bright colors, large logos, and busy patterns, as they can draw attention away from your baby.

What to Expect

🤍 Fresh 48 sessions are relaxed and focused on documenting your baby's first hours and all of the little details you'll never want to forget.

🤍 I typically begin by photographing baby swaddled in the hospital bassinet near the window using natural light.

🤍 Next, I'll capture baby's details, including tiny fingers, toes, hospital bracelets, and any special items you'd like included, such as a name blanket or announcement sign.

🤍 Family photos are usually completed at the end of the session. Siblings are always welcome to be included.

🤍 Because I use natural light, every Fresh 48 gallery will look slightly different depending on the hospital room and time of day. Some sessions are bright and airy, while others are more warm and moody—and both are beautiful.

🤍 Before I arrive, please open the blinds and clear the area near the window if possible. Your room does not need to be spotless.

🤍 Please let your nursing staff know that your photographer will be arriving during your stay.

Safety First

Your baby's safety and comfort will always be my highest priority.

As an APNPI-certified newborn photographer, I have completed specialized newborn safety and posing education and continue to invest in ongoing training. While Fresh 48 sessions are largely unposed and documentary in nature, baby is always handled with care and never placed in unsafe positions.

All wraps, blankets, and props used during your session are cleaned and sanitized between uses.

A beautiful image is never worth compromising your baby's safety.

Relax & Enjoy

The goal of a Fresh 48 session is not perfection. It's preserving the real moments—the overwhelming love, the tiny details, and the beginning of your family's newest chapter.

One Last Thing...

These first hours pass in a blur. The wrinkly skin, hospital bracelet, first stretches, and the way they fit perfectly in your arms will change before you know it.

Take a deep breath, soak it all in, and let me preserve these memories for you.

Because the version of them you have today will be gone before you're ready.

I can't wait to hear from you

Say hello. Let's work together!
