Fresh 48 Photography in Springfield, Missouri: Capturing Your Baby’s First Hours

There’s something so incredibly special about those first hours after your baby is born. The tiny fingers, the wrinkly toes, the way they curl up into you… it all changes so fast.

That’s exactly why I love Fresh 48 sessions so much.

As a Springfield, MO Fresh 48 photographer, I get to document those first real moments — the quiet snuggles, the proud siblings meeting baby, the overwhelming love in the room. These aren’t posed or styled sessions… they’re real, raw, and emotional.

And honestly? Some of the most meaningful images you’ll ever have.

What is a Fresh 48 Session?

A Fresh 48 session takes place within the first 24–48 hours after your baby is born, right in your hospital room.

I currently photograph Fresh 48 sessions at:

Cox South Hospital

Mercy Hospital Springfield

Citizens Memorial Hospital

These sessions are completely baby-led and relaxed. No pressure, no heavy posing — just documenting your baby exactly as they are in those first moments.

Why Fresh 48 Photos Matter

The truth is… this stage is gone before you even have time to process it.

You’re exhausted. Emotional. Soaking it all in.

And while you might remember pieces of it, having it documented allows you to go back and relive it all — forever.

Fresh 48 sessions capture:

Your baby’s first hours of life

First sibling and family introductions

Those tiny details that change overnight

The connection between you and your baby

It’s not about perfection — it’s about preserving your story.

What to Expect During Your Session

When I arrive, I keep things calm and natural. I’ll guide you when needed, but I’m mostly documenting what’s already happening.

You don’t need to stress about:

Cleaning the room

Looking “perfect”

Baby crying or feeding

All of that is part of your story.

Hospital lighting can be a little unpredictable (warm tones, mixed lighting, etc.), but I always edit with my true-to-color style while keeping things natural and consistent.

When Should You Book a Fresh 48 Session?

The best time to book your Fresh 48 session is during your second or third trimester.

Since babies don’t follow schedules, I stay flexible and on-call around your due date. Once baby arrives, you’ll simply message me and we’ll plan your session time.

Fresh 48 vs. Newborn Sessions

Fresh 48 sessions and newborn sessions are completely different — and honestly, they complement each other so well.

Fresh 48:

Takes place in the hospital

Focuses on real, unposed moments

Documents baby exactly as they are

Newborn sessions:

Take place in my downtown Springfield studio

Include posed and wrapped images

Styled with access to my client closet and props

Many families choose to do both to fully document this season.

And years from now, these are the images that will take you right back to the moment everything changed.
